Description

The Bumblebee Goby (Brachygobius spp.) is a striking nano fish from Southeast Asia, named for the bold black and yellow stripes that wrap around its body. These tiny, bottom-dwelling predators are famous for their "grumpy" yet engaging personalities and unique perching behavior.

Quick Care Guide
  • Size: Maximum of 1.2–1.6 inches (3–4 cm).
  • Lifespan: Typically 3–5 years, with some reaching up to 7 years under expert care.
  • Diet: Carnivorous and picky. They often refuse flakes or pellets, requiring live or frozen foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia.
  • Social Behavior: Generally peaceful but territorial with their own kind. Keep them in groups of 6+ to spread out minor aggression.
  • Tank Requirements: Minimum 10 gallons (38L) for a small group, featuring sandy substrate, low water flow, and many hiding spots like caves or driftwood.
