Care and Habitat
Water Conditions: This fish is adaptable but thrives in a slightly alkaline freshwater environment with a pH range of 7.0-8.5 and a temperature range of 72–82°F (22-28°C). They also benefit from the addition of a small amount of aquarium salt.
Tank Size: A minimum of a 20-gallon tank is recommended for a small group due to their active nature and waste production.
Diet: As omnivores, they are not picky eaters. Feed them high-quality flake or pellet food supplemented with live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia, along with vegetable matter such as spirulina flakes or blanched spinach.
Tank Mates: They are generally peaceful and do well with other non-aggressive fish of similar size, such as guppies, platies, and cory catfish. Avoid aggressive or fin-nipping species.
Social Behavior: Mollies are social fish and should be kept in a group of at least four, with a recommended ratio of two to three females per male to prevent male aggression.
