The Snow White Cichlid (Pseudotropheus socolofi "Albino") is a popular, striking albino variant of the Blue Pindani cichlid native to Lake Malawi in East Africa.
Max Size: Typically grows to 4–5 inches (10–13 cm).
Lifespan: Between 5 to 10 years with proper care.
Temperament:Semi-aggressive and territorial, though generally considered one of the more peaceful Mbuna (rock-dwelling) species.
Minimum Tank Size:50 gallons (approx. 190 liters) is recommended for a community, though small groups can sometimes start in 30 gallons.
Aquarium Requirements
Water Parameters: They thrive in alkaline water with a pH of 7.5–8.5 and temperatures between 74–82°F (24–28°C).
Tank Setup: A sandy substrate is ideal as they love to dig. Provide plenty of rock formations and caves to replicate their natural habitat and provide hiding spots for females and less dominant males.
Diet: They are omnivores but lean heavily toward a herbivorous diet. High-quality spirulina-based pellets or flakes should be the staple, supplemented with fresh veggies like zucchini or spinach.
